Thousands of dollars in college aid grants are distributed each year to top
high school graduates whose families hold Farm Bureau memberships. The
scholarships are granted by the Kentucky Farm Bureau Education Foundation,
based on factors including scholastic achievement, participation in extracurricular
activities and, in some cases, financial need. Scholarship applications are currently being accepted.
Scholarships for High School Seniors

The Kentucky Education Foundation will award 58 college scholarships to high school seniors pursuing a four-year course of study.
ELIGIBILITY
• have either a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) or a minimum 23 ACT score
• be the child of a Kentucky Farm Bureau member and remain such, while the scholarship is in force
• finish high school within the year they apply for the scholarship
Note: Children of Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance Agents, Claims Personnel, State Board Members, State & District Employees, State Women’s Advisory Committee Members and Agency Secretaries and CSRs are ineligible to apply. However, children of Agency Secretaries and CSRs are eligible to apply for the Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance Agents Association scholarship.

Young Farmer Scholarship
|

One $1,000 scholarship to a
college or vocational/technical school student.
ELIGIBILITY
• be a member of Kentucky Farm Bureau and remain such while the scholarship is in force.
Note: Applicants may not apply under a relative’s membership number (e.g. parents, grandparents,
etc.)
• be between the ages of 18-35 years old. Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of
application submission and have not reached their 36th birthday by January 1, 2010.
• be a college upperclassman (Sophomore-Senior status) for the 2009-10 school year.
Vocational/Technical school students and Graduate-level students are also eligible to apply.
• be majoring in agriculture or a related field at a Kentucky college or university.
• be enrolled as a full-time student each semester the scholarship payments are made; the student
will forfeit the scholarship, should they be less than full-time.

Paul D. Everman Fund for Lifetime Learning Scholarship

One scholarship up to $3,000
to a non-traditional student, pursuing a four-year course of study.
ELIGIBILITY
• applicant must be a member of Kentucky Farm Bureau for at least two years prior to applying for
this award.
• applicant must be a Kentucky high school graduate (GED is acceptable).
• applicant must be at least 23 years old, currently enrolled in college, or attempting to enroll and
pursuing a four-year course of study at any Kentucky college accredited by the Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools.
• Kentucky Farm Bureau Agency Managers, Agents, County Secretaries and CSRs, District and
State Employees, members of the State Board of Directors, State Young Farmer and Women.
Advisory Committees and their immediate family members are ineligible to apply.

Louis F. Ison Memorial Scholarship

One $1,000 scholarship to a
full-time graduate student pursuing a degree at the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture.
ELIGIBILITY
• student must be the child of a Kentucky Farm Bureau member, or if married, must have their
own membership before applying.
• children of Kentucky Farm Bureau State Directors, State Women’s Advisory Committee members
and Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation and Insurance employees are not eligible.
• student must hold a baccalaureate degree from any recognized four-year college in the state of
Kentucky.
• student must be enrolled or accepted for admission as a full-time graduate student and be pursuing a graduate degree at the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture.

Women's Educational Grant
|

One $1,500 scholarship to a female non-traditional student for the following school year.
ELIGIBILITY
• applicant must be a member of Kentucky Farm Bureau for at least one year prior to applying for
this award.
• applicant must be a high school graduate (GED is acceptable).
• applicant must be a female non-traditional student who is interested in resuming her education
after leaving school (either secondary or post-secondary) to fulfill either family or work-related
responsibilities.
• Kentucky Farm Bureau Agency Managers, Agents, District and State Employees, members of the State Board of Directors, State Young Farmer and Women Advisory Committees and their
immediate family members are ineligible to apply.
APPLICATION DEADLINE:
Applications must be postmarked by October 30, 2009.

Women's Mini-Grant Program
|

The grant of up to $500 is offered to county Farm Bureaus for education programs for grades
Preschool-12 or adults, which will result in increased agricultural literacy for the target group.
Four mini-grants will be awarded to county Farm Bureaus in 2009.
ELIGIBILITY
Mini-grants are offered to county Farm Bureaus on a competitive basis with priority given to
those programs demonstrating a need for financial support. Prior recipients of the Kentucky
Farm Bureau Women’s Mini-Grant Program must wait three years before re-applying for grant
funds.
APPLICATION DEADLINE:
Applications must be postmarked by April 15, 2009.
